Guess what. i'm not getting transferred and neither is sister downard. She goes home after this next transfer. We are getting one new sister in kirtland so there is going to be another triple up. and they said that we aren't going to be moving and our room is the only place where there are three in a room so it looks like we are going to have another.
So we also had a mission conference this week. So it was half the mission and down in akronish somewhere. Elder Perkins from the seventy came. It was amazing. He is going to be speaking in the priesthood session of conference in a couple weeks. So for it, they had everybody prepare a small talk on commitments and a lesson with our companion on the sabbath and they will call people to do it. I'm guessing you might know where this is going.
They did the talks at the very beginning and then after lunch he did the role plays. A couple elders went up and did their lesson and then elder perkins got up and said that the sisters had to sweat for a few minutes. That is when i knew. I tried to stay calm and make it go away, but it didn't happen. He said my name and i about died.
So yes i got to do a role play in front of half the mission plus president vellinga and elder perkins. Have i mentioned how much i dislike role plays cause i do A LOT. It was so scary. But the rest of the meeting was so great. I loved it.
One thing i really liked was when he talked about the life long process from a testimony to conversion, which we talk about a lot, but he explains things so well. He is a really good teacher. He talked about the parallel a long that line of the learner and the teacher. How the learner goes from knowing, to doing, to becoming (which is conversion) and the process of the teacher right below is teaching and testifying, to inviting, promising, and testifying, to following up to helping them become something different. It was really awesome. He also talked about going with a question to everything. If we don't we don't know what to look or listen for so it's harder to get our answers. It really was a great day!
We are phoning and chatting more and more because there aren't as many tours and we are going to be doing it even more and more. It is getting a little easier to do the first hello. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what to say to someone after that point. Not many people just go up and talk to people unless they are just being annoying so that's kind of hard because most of the time i just feel annoying. But i'm trying to get over that
