So a couple elders brought two of their investigators to Kirkland. The elders had prepared them so well to come to the sites. They had talked to them about temples and the Doctrine and Covenants and told them about the Word of Wisdom and how it was revealed here. That's the one thing that made the one investigator so excited to come here. He grew up on a tobacco farm in West Virginia so it has been a huge part of his life for a long time and it's been hard for him to quit. He was so willing to talk to us and was so excited about what he had been learning from the elders. He was also a minister for the church of the Nazarene but it always seemed like something was missing. He loved being in the places where Joseph Smith walked.
When we got to the School of the Prophets it was great. We asked him if he believed the church was true and he said that he did. In the next room we talk about Orson Hyde and the Book of Mormon and he is already at the end of Alma and he loves it. He loves how in the church we ask people to find out for themselves. It's not a bunch of hell, fire, and brimstone like what he grew up with. He's just like it's great because you can totally tell a difference when you read it and when you don't. He just totally recognizes everything and he just knows that it is true.
A lot of the things just took him back to his childhood because it was really similar to the way his grandparent's house was. So he liked that part too. He was really amazed by the people that were here too. He was just so awesome.
When we were on exchanges we also met this really cool guy. We were at Kent State and he came up and talked to us at our table. He liked free stuff. He kind of told us his story and how he was atheist for a while and now he is not. He told us that he does not believe what the Mormons believe. He really likes the trinity. Like a lot. Like too much. He says it's the only thing that would make sense, even though it doesn't make sense. He talked about a bunch of stuff with quantum mechanics and how it's just making the trinity more and more logical and how there are things that can be a few things at once. It was interesting. We ended up talking to him for a while at the table and at the end we asked if we could meet with him and talk to him more about what he believed and he said ya i would. It was so awesome. It was neat to see the spirit work on him.
I really hope that you are reading your scriptures and praying everyday. I really want at least my family to be doing these things. Those are some of the first things we ask people to do because it is so important and helps them to progress.
